What is included in a Biological Resources Study?
A well done and professional report can move you project forward quicker and cheaper wiithout setbacks
The report should be done by a biologist approved by the County Planning Department. Counties typically have an approved consultant list or list of minimal requirements. City departments sometimes have their own list as well
A report should include a robust desktop review of all available resources, impact analysis, recommendations, and high-quality graphics.
A Biological Resources Assessment provides a desktop review and field survey. The desktop review includes a query of federal, state, and local regulatory databases that document sensitive resources surrounding the property. The field survey documents biological resources on the property and potential for sensitive plants and animals to occur on the property.
The field survey should be timed during the blooming period of potentially occurring sensitive plants to accurately document the presence or absence of the species on the property. When the report is used to support permitting, the federal, state, and local agencies may require a second survey during the blooming survey if the first survey was not done at the appropriate time of year.
